The olive variety predominant in the Borba region is Galega, whose main features are irregular yields and low oil productivity. Nevertheless, its fruits have very peculiar characteristics, which provide the olive oil with an excellent aroma and taste. In the production area of the Cooperative, the olive trees are grown on a traditional way, with no chemical products applied to the crop. In this sense, the olive oil produced by the Cooperative of Borba can be considered an organic product.
