Cooperative

To Cooperate is also: to Educate and to Inform

Since it was established, the Cooperativa de Olivicultores de Borba (Cooperative of the Olive Producers of the Borba region of Southern Portugal) has been pioneering the update and improvement of the productive process, with the aim of getting a final product of high quality. In fact, the cooperative has followed a Quality Assurance policy that motivates the engagement of its members, collaborators and customers, leading to the attainment of products that try to exceed customers’ expectations. Quality is a constant and global concern. That is why, nowadays, the olive oil produced here is a first choice among the best.

The Cooperative was established on the 31st of March of 1951, being constituted, at that time, by nearly 100 olive growers, all small and median producers. Today, it has about 1120 associates, representing the entire Borba borough and some of the bordering areas.

The Cooperative main activity is the extraction, storage, packing and commercialisation of olive oil produced by its associates. This oil is produced industrially and commercialised in bulk or bottled. The by-products of the olive oil extraction are applied as organic matter in farms that belong to the Cooperative associates.

Within the principles that we follow, in which one of the concerns is the socio-cultural dignity of the human being, the Cooperative has always collaborated in all initiatives related to the divulgation and promotion of the region. With this aim, we welcome all those who visit us, trying show them the inherent culture of an olive oil press.

We look forward to your visit!
